WHERE’S YOUR LOCAL? | PEPPA HART

SOPHIE BELL IS THE CREATIVE MIND BEHIND PEPPA HART, A GOLD COAST BASED BLOG THAT SHARES CONTENT FROM AROUND AUSTRALIA THAT INSPIRES SOPHIE’S CREATIVE MIND. AFTER LEAVING HER CORPORATE GIG SHE BUILT THE PEPPA HART EMPIRE, LATER ADDING AN ART STORE IN COLLABORATION WITH HER MOTHER AND THEN IN 2015 SHE STARTED HARTLAND & CO, HER CLOTHING LABEL. SOPHIE HAS MANAGED TO JUGGLE ALL OF THIS AS WELL AS HER MARRIAGE AND MOTHERHOOD! WE WERE INTRODUCED TO SOPHIE THROUGH THE HOLISTIC PROJECT, A SMALL BUSINESS WHICH PROVIDES AN ORGANIC APPROACH TO ENTREPRENEURIAL, HEALTH AND WELLBEING EVENTS WHICH SOPHIE HAS BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH – RECENTLY SHE SHARED THE STORY OF HER JOURNEY INTO BUSINESS WITH THE GIRL GANG THAT THE HOLISTIC PROJECT HAS BUILT AT THEIR PURSUE YOUR PASSION EVENT.

Where’s your local?
Gold Coast

What do you love most about your local?
I love that we get to live a relaxed and beautiful life with sunshine most of the year, you can get almost anywhere on the Coast in under 30 minutes and we can be in Byron Bay within an hour (we spend a fair bit of time in Byron Bay). It’s small enough to not be as stressful as a city but big enough to have everything we need.

What role has your local community played in your business’ growth?
A HUGE role, I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many incredibly inspiring women on the Gold Coast, a lot of my business friends I have met through social media and beautiful events like Pursue Your Passion. We all support each other and lift each either up not only in business but also in motherhood, life and love.

What role has your local landscape played in your business’ growth?
I am inspired endlessly by my local landscape, I feel a huge shift in the past 2 years on the Gold Coast, there are great events regularly which allow you to meet people just like you. Culturally the shift is huge recently as well, there is so much more to the Gold Coast than what meets the eye.

So, I’m visiting your local, where should I go to….

Sip Champagne with the girls…

Rick Shores or Halcyon House

Grab a coffee…

Bam Bam or Canteen

Take a long walk…

Miami beach front + Hill

See wildlife…

Burleigh Headland or Tamborine Mountain

Get Inspired…

The Village Markets

Watch the sunset…

Burleigh Heads, relax on the Hill with a killer cheese board and some Rosé.

Pursue Your Passion has become one of the most popular women’s business events from Brisbane to Byron Bay, why do you think it has been so successful in the area?
What is not to love about the events, it’s all about inspiring and lifting each other up in business. It’s like a big melting pot of women who are aspiring to make the very best of their lives, whether that is in business, lifestyle, motherhood or friendship – you get to meet like-minded women who are all giving it their all. They have a fire in their belly and they may not have made the plunge into their dream business yet but events like this give them the final push they need. For those already in business, it can be tough running your own gig – it’s nice to meet others in the same boat who you can share your journey with. We all have a common thread, we want to make a living from what we love, we don’t want to be working for someone else creating their legacy

There seem to be a lot of businesses popping up in this same area, particularly female owned and operated companies, what would you attribute that to?
On the Gold Coast and Northern NSW, we don’t have the same opportunities as our friends in Sydney and Melbourne in the Corporate world – we want the lifestyle of the beaches and laid back culture but we also want to be successful. I feel that because there isn’t as many opportunities to work in big corporations here, it makes you work hard and build your own ideal business so that you can still have the life you want here on the Coast but also love what you are doing for work.

You’ve attended past events by The Holistic Project, what was some of the best advice you heard at a Pursue Your Passion event?
That its ok to make some mistakes, Zoe from Mister Zimi was so open about how it wasn’t all smooth sailing and still today there is the constant juggle of work/family/manufacturing etc. I took a lot away from Zoe’s beautiful talk and it really drove me to back myself and follow my gut, you could see the sparkle in so many eyes as Zoe explained she is not your traditional fashion designer, but she had a dream and did everything she could to make it come to fruition.
